Two thirds (2/3) of IGRs or AIRs present shall constitute a quorum at the IGR meetings. Robert’s Rules of Order shall be recognized as the procedure at all IGR meetings. Members of the Steering Committee and any interested A.A members also attend the IGR Meeting.

Intergroup Representative (IGR)

Each group usually elects an IGR, who participates in business meetings with other such representatives to share their groups’ experience in carrying the A.A. message. The IGR tries to keep the group well-informed about what the local Intergroup is doing.

Qualifications: sobriety requirements are decided by the home group
Term: usually 1 year

Service Committees

Several service committees support the Intergroup in their efforts to help alcoholics find the help they need. Each of the Committee Chairs can use help from members interested in their activities.

The Steering Committee Chairperson appoints, with the approval of the IGRs, the following positions: 

Intergroup Liaison to District 5

Attends the IGR’s monthly meeting at Intergroup and the monthly District Business Meetings and reports happenings at each meeting.

Events Coordinator

Organizes a subcommittee and provide annual and special events on behalf of Intergroup

Meeting List Coordinator – Where & When

(printed and electronic)
Maintains and updates meeting information provided by the groups both in a printed format (Where & When list) and online. The Where & When is updated quarterly and the electronic meeting lists are updated nightly.

This is vital task to keep the meeting information up to date in real time and produce a printable version of the list to all A.A. groups/meetings. Please consider this service opportunity if you have some software skills and are meticulous by nature. Training is provided.

Website Committee

The Web Master (Web Chair) maintains the Intergroup web site, post reports and meeting minutes as soon as possible, uploads event flyers from groups or other AA bodies, maintains the Events Calendar showing the various  committee meeting dates and the events occurring in groups, and responds to web enquiries made through the website. This person can also recruit and train others to help in this effort.

Daytime Coordinator

Recruits, trains and supervises A.A. members to answer the phone at the Intergroup Office during regular business hours (9am-6pm, Mon-Fri), refer the still suffering to meetings and/or Twelve Step Contacts, welcome visitors to the office, and assist with book sales and other assigned duties. 

Nighttime Coordinator

Recruits, trains and supervises A.A. members to answer the Hotline during the overnight hours. Maintains a list of available AA members willing to help.

Each committee reports monthly to the IGRs at the regular meeting.
